The Power of Owning Your Story
What power do your personal narratives hold over your life? Are they liberating you or keeping you trapped in cycles of suffering?
The stories we tell ourselves shape our reality more profoundly than most realize. After returning from another hiatus, I'm diving deep into how our internal narratives determine whether doors of opportunity appear open or closed to us. Drawing from my five decades of life experience, I share how I've learned to question the truth behind my stories and release their emotional charge.
My morning ritual now begins with Ho'oponopono—"I'm sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you"—a practice that centers me before facing the day. When disruptive emotions arise, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) help me tap away limiting beliefs and painful memories. These simple yet powerful practices have transformed my relationship with difficult experiences, allowing me to listen to others' perspectives without being destabilized.
The journey toward genuine freedom requires taking responsibility not for what happened to us, but for our healing process. Even painful experiences serve a purpose in our soul's journey—providing contrast that illuminates our inner glory. Rather than postponing joy until some future milestone, true empowerment comes from embracing life exactly as it unfolds right now.
Join me on this journey of self-discovery. If you're ready to examine your story, question what's truly real, and release what no longer serves you, I'm here to guide you through personalized consultation combining hypnotherapy, astrology, and coaching. Together, we can transform your relationship with your past and create space for your authentic self to flourish.

Hello Lita, goddess of Growth here and, yes, another hiatus. What can I say? The last time I was able to podcast successfully, I had started our initiation together using emotional freedom techniques. You know that is only part of it. My focus is on using tools and techniques that work to help us uplift our minds and our spirits. Eventually, we will then have the necessary focus to update our lives holistically.
Speaker 1:Our stories are the key to our healing and at 50, I'm never too old to learn and to be challenged, too old to learn and to be challenged. What I can say as you progress with the self-love, self-care, self-awareness, the stories that come our way, the stories that we internalise within, they do not have the same effects upon us. Most recently, I had one would say. Most recently I had, one would say, a healing conversation. I learnt a few things that was actually portrayed and said about me as a child, and it was interesting to be able to listen without responding, receive it and come out the other side to know that that wasn't me, is not me, and you know what I'm okay. So Empowerment Diaries we are still here and my intention, as always, is to have this space and really to be able to connect with you, the community, as we go through, and really focus on the stories that we have within, because ultimately, those are the stories. These are the stories that's determining our life path, and it's the story that we have within that can determine whether a door opens or even if we acknowledge the door to be open. Each and every day, I have to decide what it is I want from my life. Now, spiritualists will tell you as soon as you wake. There is a real focus on positively intending our day, really taking time out to focus and decide for ourselves that today is, and will be a good day.
Speaker 1:When I wake up in the morning, I enjoy doing the whole Opponopono process. I often do it at night as well. My version of it is about acknowledging and giving gratitude. So I wake up in the morning and one of the first things that come to mind as I get ready to step out of bed I will say I'm sorry, please forgive me. I love you, thank you. I am sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you. It's my daily mantra, next to spending time off with a cup of coffee and listening to some Buddhist chants. I am not Buddhist. I do enjoy listening to sounds, music, even nature. That actually helps me feel relaxed.
Speaker 1:And within this time and space, now, our stories. They can be the thing that heal us and, unfortunately, they can be the thing that makes us unwell. And as we become wiser and we're more aware, we understand that it's up to us individually to be mindful of the stories that we take upon ourselves, the ones that we absorb, the ones that we listen to, the ones that we absorb, the ones that we listen to, the ones that we create and the ones that we share. It is a blessing, in my opinion, to be able to meet with someone from our past, to maybe go through a story that we haven't quite let go, or maybe it's something you're not even thinking about, but to hear another person's point of view as to what happened when a given scenario took place can be most interesting. Healing Definitely.
Speaker 1:I've had my eyes open to a lot of different variations of stories in different decades of my life. When we're children, we can sometimes see scary things as being darker than they are, and I think there comes a time in our lives where we kind of shut down and almost try to block out what might we perceive is going on around us and then I don't know, I think towards our fees. We then start opening our eyes a bit more, challenging the status quo, our eyes a bit more challenging the status quo, not in that childlike way of running away, but really questioning and asking is it true? What is it in this scenario that is really, really true? And in my own life, if I think about it, it was in my 30s, early 30s, that I did a course by an association or foundation called there's More to Life. More to Life, and it was there that I was reminded because I'd read up until that point.
Speaker 1:But I was reminded that actually, when things happen, it really is important for our mental and spiritual health to really question what is true and ask the question in any given scenario is it true? And even if it is true, what can we do about it? When we ask people, how are you, how are you today? Listening to the response, often we have a habit of going backwards to check in on how we are. We have a habit of going backwards to check in on how we are, but actually, throughout the day, there's many times in this moment we really are okay and it is okay to be and feel okay, even if what's around us is something that feels as if there's turmoil. And even the turmoil can be relative, because when we really sit down and question and write down, so, what is really true about this situation?
Speaker 1:Often we find there's loads of fears, what ifs and maybes that's driving us to despair, and I know from experience that's often the fuel that we can use, and do use, to run our lives. It's almost like the engine, the fuel that we've used to motivate us to move forward. But what if there was another way that didn't have the anxiety attached, the stomach pains, the headaches, sleepless nights, the distant relationships, empowerment diaries, something that we can do individually and collectively, sharing our story, taking out a journal, writing down what it is we believe happened in any given scenario. You know, when it comes to stories, there's my story, your story, our story. We'll never know fully what truly happens in any given story and the reason being is because we really don't know. But to assume what it is, others are thinking and feeling and on many occasions in my life I have had people tell me their interpretation of my actions and I can confidently say, when listening to the summary of the things and reasons, that they believed I'd done something. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sometimes it was really a case of just not thinking about a thing, just going on motor. So Empowerment Diaries we we are here again, and I do thank you so much for being patient with me.
Speaker 1:A lot has been happening. You know, I have been on this path of focusing on self-employment since 2023 and spending quite a lot of time on social media, not making any money to look after myself. So I've had to focus on different ways to survive, and I am now in a stage of my life where I would like to thrive. Survival can only take us so far. It's exhausting, isn't it? And I do know for me to make the change, I do need to change my own beliefs as to what it is I need to do in relationship to myself and others.
Speaker 1:In the meantime, I have worked, as I said, on social media, and in April of this year, I came upon a few messages on my For you feed on TikTok inviting me to apply to take on a creator network opportunity. Now, some would say that's just the algorithm. Whatever the reason was, there was a few that came my way, and I thought I would put my details in eventually after a few times and see what would happen. And actually I was accepted into the program in April, or was it May? Time is going. We're in June now, so I am now a creator network manager.
Speaker 1:What does that all mean? Well, it's like having a kind of talent agency working on social media, helping individuals come on and build their strategy for success, whether it's promoting a lifestyle, becoming an influencer, sharing educational tips and techniques. People might be wanting to publish books, sell recipes, demonstrate how to cook, like whatever it is that one can do creatively by a or via a live stream. I am there to support them, guide them so that they avoid getting any bans or violations by the platform, and working with them so that they can grow their network, their community to, we'd love to think, thrive on the platform. So I got accepted on the program and I started a course the first week. Second week, there was a bit of confusion as to what do I do next, because I think I finished the courses within a day or two and then the month ended. So there are some things that I need to do, which includes meeting people that I can coach. The nice thing about the opportunity is that the clients I am to work with will not be paying me directly. It will be the platform that pays me, based on anything that anyone earns, so we'll see. Alongside that, there's websites, there's admin.
Speaker 1:Life has been ongoing. I have been having conversations, and always it is a case of really listening to what is going on in today's climate, not just politically, socially as well, and it is important to take time to really fully listen. I am here, I am mostly here, so it is really nice to see the benefits of being able to use techniques like emotional freedom techniques so that when things do come up to kick me off balance, I'm able to centre myself to move forward. Don't get me wrong even at 50, there are times when there's a shed of a tear or two and I am just reminded that I still have work to do. My sleep has not been disturbed. It's deep sleep, though I could definitely do with more of it. I have long days going on at the moment as I attempt to succeed in business, but I'm here. I'm still reading astrology.
Speaker 1:I often say I'm not an astrologer, but I am intrigued with all the changes and transits that often keep people worried. In my own life, I have had many warnings and so and seen things come to pass and you know when I'm in a good space, I fully understand that good, bad, it's all relative. There are things that happen in our lives that we might see as being bad now, but when you look at it, they're often the best thing that actually happened to us and for us. And I do believe a lot of those things we actually program to happen in our lives to make sure that we are centered and on the path that we agreed to be on when we came here. Yes, I do believe that before we came here, we had some kind of a contract, some kind of an agreement to be here to live this life's journey and somehow, when we come, we forget and we're continually being reminded and when we have that understanding and things show up, it's easier to decide if an opportunity is for us or not. The Creator Network opportunity I was happy to pursue and continue with because the idea is that I will be able to coach others to help themselves, who will then go on to help others, and that's what I look for in all aspects of my life, professional and socially.
Speaker 1:What brings us joy? What brings us joy? Our stories can free us and our stories can imprison us. And often there are these stories that we have with ourselves and they are often holding us back, bringing us down, even if we don't fully recognise it and acknowledge it. And to get to an age and stage in life. Freedom comes from acknowledging yes, it might be the case that others did X, y and Z. There does come an age and stage in our own individual lives where we have to take responsibility. Even if it is a case that we put ourselves in the situation to experience harm, we have to acknowledge that. It's not saying that it was right, it's not saying that no one is effectively to blame, but to understand there is an order in life and actually there are souls that come together, often to remind us of our inner glory.
Speaker 1:If we didn't have the challenge from other, we wouldn't know the contrast. It's like knowing the difference between hot and cold. Until you've experienced it, you do not have anything to compare it to. It's just an imagining. So we get to a stage and a phase in life where even the hurtful things not that we say that you are to be a pushover, but even the hurtful things we can heal within ourselves, forgive and accommodate to the extent that we're able to move on. I often say when we've dealt with it, we no longer think about it. Those things that keep coming up, whether it's something that brings embarrassment connected to shame, anger, resentment, whatever it is that we identify as an uncomfortable feeling.
Speaker 1:If anything does come up, emotional freedom techniques are the techniques to use to tap them away. You never need to tell anyone about it. It's something that you're doing for your self-care, your mental, spiritual freedom. I have had a lifetime of worry. Emotional freedom techniques has really helped with a lot. I'm not there as yet. I've let my physical self go and I can give many reasons and excuses as for why I am aware and that's the first part to be aware no excuses, no blaming, no self-recrimination. This is about us. So we are here now and we are coming together and we are connecting.
Speaker 1:I really would love to tap into some stories. I don't mind looking at astrological charts. I don't mind actually listening to the story. What I am focused on is helping you to free up space so that you can be comfortable looking at your story and questioning really what is true, because until we do that, we will always be under someone else's influence and power. Owning our story holds the key to our greatest power and our greatest freedom. Seeing our story, questioning it, looking at it from a distance, internally, journal if you need to tap it away, if you need to, but definitely acknowledge it, and if you can connect with souls that may have been around when the story took place that's always an interesting exercise the things that people remember you'd be amazed. The things that people block out.
Speaker 1:The same, if you're wanting to free your mind, free your life, be in a position to tap into your inner glory, your creativity, and start the life that you've been dreaming of for such a long time, now is the time to take power from your story. If your story has been used to belittle you, to put you down, to make you feel worthless whether you've done it to yourself or other has used your story against you. Now is the time to take some positive steps to embrace your story Really, take it on board and question it, and when I say question it, I mean think about the year that scenarios happened. What was the economy like? What was politics like? Who was around? Were your grandparents still here? What friends were there supporting you? Did you have an extended family member supporting you, like the whole story, because sometimes we take on a story and we even sometimes try to take ownership full ownership of the story that actually we would never have been able to take ownership, full ownership of the story that actually we would never have been able to take full ownership of anyway, because it wasn't our responsibility to do so.
Speaker 1:Now is the time to find spaces in the day to just breathe. For many a year I was told to meditate, meditate, meditate, meditate. I did not really fully understand it until just a few years ago and I have been meditating since my mid-twenties, listening to tapes, falling asleep listening to them. It was from 2009, when I qualified as a hypnotherapist consultant hypnotherapist that I started taking not just meditation but anything to do with hypnotherapy more serious. But some of these things we often don't see the benefits of until much later down the line being able to take a full breath. Sometimes we take those little things are they little for? For granted. I am all about empowerment. Sometimes we need to get down to the basics, find all those dark areas that we hide away from everyone else and shine a light on it so that it's no longer holding any power over us.
Speaker 1:Write your journal, meditate, practice, emotional freedom techniques, maybe add a whole open upono to it. I am here for you. If you would like to share your story, I would love to hear from you. There is an opportunity on this podcast for you to connect. Do send me a link and do send me your detail. I will be presenting some more inspiration on how you can look at your story, maybe in a way that you haven't been able to do thus far.
Speaker 1:It's best to spend time getting to know you rather than allowing others to tell you who you are. Others will not know you the way you know you. There is a soul force that's running through us, and that is the soul force that genuinely knows who we are deeply, intimately. And the journey that I'd like you to come on with me is about tapping in. Regardless of how we look, regardless of how many problems we perceive we have, life is always happening around us, through us, within us. This is about empowering ourselves so that, no matter what the story of life is saying, we can feel as if we are able to be as resilient as we need to be, and we can feel as if, within this life, space and time, we have true belonging and spirit wants us to be here to enjoy life, to celebrate life, something that's quite hard to do if our stories are hanging us down, keeping us down like a noose. We are the only ones that can free ourselves. No priest, no saint, no parent, no sibling, no friend, no one outside of ourselves, no therapist, can free us from ourselves. Yes, we can take medication, we can have any form of supplement to raise the endorphins a little bit. I know there are some that actually go to the other extreme and do a lot of exercise and a lot of dieting to deal with that pain, that anxiety, that sense of frustration and loss within.
Speaker 1:It is a case of taking time to acknowledge the story and forgive ourselves. Forgive ourselves for taking us through it, the repetition alone being harmful. Is this your time now to forgive yourself, to take time to breathe? If this is your time, do connect. We can share stories and I can guide you on how to move beyond the current story. I am available for one-on-one consultation and I like to look at it as esoteric work because I like to combine hypnoanalysis, hypnotherapy, my readings in astrology and coaching to guide you from the story that's anchoring you to the freedom that you seek.
Speaker 1:It is a journey. It's not an overnight fix. It's a stage of awareness that helps us deal with life that's continually chaining. That's the thing they do not tell us. I believe, when we're growing, when we're children, we often believe that if we do work hard now, it will be easier tomorrow. And on many levels it is true. However, we all know those that have worked really hard all their lives, so hard, many hours, with this idea that they'll hit retirement, and that's when life begins Only never to even live, to see retirement or to get to retirement, and they have ill health.
Speaker 1:There are so many stories of people working towards a thing and never achieving that thing. That's not to say one stops aspiring to or stops working towards. What it is to say is the reasons for needs to be examined. Life is not over there, it's very much over here, and it's that part of the story that one needs to think about, addressing and embracing healing. So thank you again for listening to my Dorset Tones. I am Lita and this is the space to connect. Do give the podcast a follow and please do put any comments in the comments below if you'd like to talk about a specific topic that you'd like to hear on this podcast. I do thank you.
